After attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Understand how to customize CenterPoint Payroll several different ways depending on your needs through the use of preferences and right-click selections.
  • Setup security that will allow you to password protect databases, setup additional users, track user entry, and limit access to menu selections.
  • Create workers’ compensation classes that can be used to report time for employees who work in job categories and calculate workers’ compensation rates.
  • Create and assign departments to employees or to pay run transactions which can be used to provide a total labor cost by department.
  • Use pay defaults to automatically enter pay data which allows you to increase the speed of data entry and reduce the possibility of errors.
  • Track the profit for each job by entering payroll transactions (expenses) by project.
  • Easily set up alternate language pay stubs for multiple languages which is helpful for employers of non-English speaking employees.
  • Define leave categories which determine how often leave is awarded to employees, when it is awarded, if there is a wait period and if leave can be carried over. Use leave categories to create leave tables and assign the leave to an employee so leave can be calculated.
  • Add additional information to the Employee tabs for processing Federal forms, maintaining optional human resource information, accruing leave, etc.
  • Add additional information to the Employer tabs for processing Federal forms, adding workers’ compensation classes, accruing leave, etc.
  • Create a template employee that can be used to set your normal settings for city, state, zip code, payroll state, default earnings, deductions, etc. Once set, the template employee can be copied to create new employees.
  • Mass update various types of information, including deductions and benefits, earnings, payroll information, leave, or taxes.
