Behind the Scenes- Red Wing Software's TC 10 Mile Team!

  • Katrina Nelson

The only race I have ever done was a 5K three years ago in Rapid City, SD, and even that was a challenge for me. I had laughed at Stephanie when she first asked “Would you be interested in running a 10 mile race?” After thinking about it, I thought why not, I’ll give it a shot! I’ve been practicing running ever since then and have really surprised myself. It’s good to have goals (even if it’s a little out of your comfort zone) and keep pushing yourself for a better you. My main goal is to finish the race, without ending up in an ambulance. I am doing this race for my daughter, who is almost four, to show her that you can accomplish difficult goals if you put your mind to it! She has been my little coach. Thanks Coach Kyla!

  • Jill Fox

I ran a half marathon last October and quit running after that. The TC 10 Mile has gotten me back into running. I enjoy lifting weights and going to classes at the Y but it feels great to get back to running. I will be doing a Ragnar Trail run in September and also completed the Spartan and 1/2 Tough Mudder this summer.

  • Rachel Glover

Running is one of my favorite things to do for exercise! I love the friendships that I have formed through running groups! I've done a few other 10 mile races along with many 5ks. When this race came up it was another chance to run with a wonderful group of people and it's going to help this mama get back into shape after welcoming our beautiful daughter in July!

  • Stephanie Elsen

I have run two marathons in the past, and am excited to run this 10 mile race because I want to get back into running. The only running I’ve done for the past few years is to the fridge while watching Netflix. It feels good to be getting back to it – when I started training for this race I could barely run a block without stopping, and I just ran six miles this past weekend. It’s a little bit harder now that I am 47, but I am loving it anyway!

I'm excited to be running the TC 10 Mile with the Red Wing Software team this year! I consider myself a reluctant runner... I do not love it, but it's the most efficient workout I've found. I go in spurts and have run Grandma's half marathon twice, and the TC 10 Mile two years ago. I haven't run much in the past year, so this has been a good motivator to get started again. Hopefully, I make it to the finish line on October 9th!

  • Lizz Hilton

I ran consistently in college and within the past two years have started running again. I usually do not participate in organized events as I run not only for exercise but also as a form of relieving stress. I have never run farther than eight miles at a time so I figured this would be a great challenge and motivator to get out of my normal routine. I plan on running the Ragnar Trail Run next year with the company I am employed with.

CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT: The City of Walnut Ridge

CSA Software Solutions is a partner of Red Wing Software that sells and supports CenterPoint Fund Accounting software. The two companies team together, helping cities in the southern U.S. improve and streamline their accounting and payroll. Recently, CSA received a story of success from customer Charles Snap, the Mayor of the City of Walnut Ridge. Here Mayor Snap shares his story.

    Walnut Ridge

    LOCATION:

    Walnut Ridge, Arkansas
    Population 4,925

    CSA CLIENT SINCE:

    January 1, 2016

    CURRENT SOFTWARE:

    CenterPoint Fund Accounting and Payroll

    KEY BENEFITS OF CENTERPOINT:

    • Budget Details
    • Council Reports
    • Support

“I took office in January of 2015, as did a new Clerk/Treasurer for Walnut Ridge. The former Clerk/Treasurer had given a notice that she was retiring, and the newly elected clerk had trained with the former clerk. At the point the new training started, the city had switched from a DOS-based system to an over-the counter-accounting program and we were having trouble keeping our records straight.”

“The new clerk’s solution was to purchase the CenterPoint Fund Accounting software by Red Wing Software. When I found out the cost, I refused to authorize purchase of the software, citing budget concerns for our community of under 5,000. In fact, I continued to refuse the software purchase for months, until I was forced to hire a CPA to help us sort through the city books, in an effort to come up with a working budget for 2016.”

“After the lack of budget details forced me into sitting down with CSA, a local company that sells and supports CenterPoint Software, I started to understand what the staff and their software could provide. In fact, I was quite impressed with the behind the scene options offered for support and help if my clerk was sick, to assure the city bills and payroll continued and the security of the system was another bonus. After all, as a small town we have a very limited staff.”

“We installed CenterPoint Fund Accounting and Payroll going in to the 2016 calendar year, and our paperwork improved immediately. My department heads didn’t doubt their monthly reports anymore, my budget committee was more than pleased with how the reports looked, and the details they were being provided. No doubt, we had made the right move in purchasing the system and then the unforeseen happened … our City Clerk had a stroke and was hospitalized.”

“The following Monday morning I contacted CSA and their backup plan was put to work. Within hours their staff was working with my assistant, to insure payroll checks were written and the bills were paid in a timely manner. The city’s credit rating was at risk and potential problems extended well beyond the city, which could have impacted each employee and their lives. While the accounting portion of CenterPoint Fund Accounting software had simplified the paperwork for Walnut Ridge, the CSA behind the scenes staff and their backup plan had saved the day! With this in mind, I welcome email, or phone calls if anyone has any questions concerning the City of Walnut Ridge’s experience with CenterPoint by Red Wing Software. I’ve made full circle from a skeptic, to shouting their praises from the mountain tops!”
