CARES Act COVID-19 Reporting Updates

Congress recently passed coronavirus tax relief bills (CARES Act) to help businesses deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 Form 941, through our Aatrix tax forms software, is now available. If you have been using our recommended CARES Act COVID-19 paid leave setup process with the ability to select Retention Credit pay runs outlined in the document below, the 2020 Form 941 will automatically perform the new required calculations. If you did not follow the CenterPoint COVID paid leave setup process, the COVID-19 information will need to be manually entered on the 941 form in Aatrix (Retention Credit pay runs can still be selected). CenterPoint Payroll also has access to Form 7200 - Advance Payment of Employer Credits Due to COVID-19, and other CARES Act COVID-19 reports including PPP Payroll Cost reports to assist in completing the PPP Loan Forgiveness Application.
Click here to view documentation on CenterPoint Payroll and COVID-19 Paid Leave. Or from within CenterPoint Payroll, select Help > CenterPoint Help, and then enter COVID-19 in the Search bar.

Red Wing Payroll 2020 Form 941 Information

NOTE: This notification is for the Red Wing Software legacy product, which is called Red Wing Payroll (or Red Wing Windows Payroll). This notification is NOT in reference to CenterPoint Payroll, which is the current payroll system offered by Red Wing Software.
The 2020 Form 941 through our Aatrix tax forms software is now available. However, due to technology limitations, Red Wing Payroll cannot automatically fill out the 2020 Form 941 with the CARES Act COVID-19 information. CARES Act COVID-19 information will need to be manually added to the 941, in Aatrix, if applicable to your situation.
Each business and its CARES Act choices will be different. For information about your specific situation, contact your accountant or CPA, or see the following links:

Notes from the President

Ken Hilton - President Red Wing Software

Cautious, but not fearful. I was having a conversation recently with our Red Wing Software CEO, Jim, and as often happens during these times, the subject of the pandemic came up. We discussed how we felt about the risk of contracting the virus and what steps we were taking to protect ourselves and others.
His response was he was “cautious but not fearful.” I thought that was a great attitude toward the pandemic, and many other things in life and business. When thinking about personal purchasing decisions and or major life-changing decisions, after doing the appropriate research, and making your decision, be cautious, but not fearful of your choice.
When making business decisions, such as taking on a new venture, investing in new modern equipment, or deciding when it’s time to hire additional employees, again, after doing the appropriate budgeting for the new project, evaluations of the new equipment, and interviewing and selecting the right people, move forward, and be cautious but not fearful.
